Family Time
Embrace every moment you have with the people you love. It only takes a second to let someone know that you are thinking about them. I challenge you to send a text or even call someone who you care about after reading this blog post. A small text or even just a compliment can mean the world to the people who love you.
November is a month to reflect and reconnect with our values, families, and goals. Try something new and plan a spontaneous trip to the beach or start a gratitude journal to share with your family!
Appreciate the small adventures in life and share them with the ones you love.
Traditions New and Old
Beginning new traditions with the ones you love is a great way to kick-start the holiday season. A tradition my family participates in is making homemade chicken noodle soup on every Christmas eve! We use an old recipe passed down from my great-grandmother. Sitting together and enjoying a warm bowl of soup before the hectic Christmas festivities is always my favorite part of the holiday. Although this tradition has been long-standing, it’s never too late for you to begin new ones! A new tradition my family is starting this year is a themed Thanksgiving dinner! We have decided we will be hosting a Harry Potter themed Thanksgiving. Everyone will attend the dinner dressed in their house of choice: Slytherin, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw or Gryffindor. The night will consist of Harry Potter inspired games, food, and drinks. Having a themed Thanksgiving dinner will provide us with a fun atmosphere as we give thanks for each other and everything that we have.
Not all traditions will spur from a planned moment, one of my friends shared with me that they have a dish of canned beans every Thanksgiving in honor of when they could not afford a nice meal. Honoring their past and remembering their blessings has turned into a tradition full of thankfulness. With this, I hope that you will be inspired to begin your own traditions and continue the ones you already have.
