2020 is coming to a close, and through all the ups and downs, music always makes its way into our daily lives. There's been some quarantine bops this year, and it's time to shed some light on some of the best songs of 2020! #1: Blinding Lights – The WeekndWith over 1.7 Billion streams on spotify, this song is easily one of the most popular this year. With an 80's vibe and catchy melodies, the Weeknd won us over this year with this undeniably great tune, which sat at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for 4 straight weeks. #2: Don't Start Now – Dua LipaThis pop/dance anthem really gets you moving, and it's impossible to not move this one! "Don't Start Now" reached number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, 1.2 Billion streams on Spotify, and also had an entire Tik Tok trend dedicated to the song! Personal advice, do not study while listening to this song, you'll get easily distracted! #3: Adore You – Harry StylesThis one's a favorite of mine. Former One Direction member Harry Styles gave us an amazing tune to jam to. This is a very "feel good" song, and I highly recommend it. The song has a soft rock vibe, and has nearly 700 million streams on Spotify. Although it was released last year, Styles released it as a single this year #4: Dynamite – BTSThe K-Pop sensations released Dynamite in August of 2020. Despite their K-Pop roots, the song is sung completely in English, likely to increase their range of listeners. Dynamite blew up on Tik Tok, and reached over 500 million streams on Spotify. Like other songs on this list, this song is upbeat and incredibly catchy. #5: Rain On Me – Lady Gaga & Ariana GrandeThese two queens of pop came in clutch in May when they dropped this upbeat, electronic dance tune. It was a collaboration that was unexpected, but certainly welcome! The song has over 450 million streams on spotify, and also reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. #6: Intentions – Justin BieberReleased in February, Bieber released this as his second single to his comeback album. The song is about his wife Hailey, who he married in 2018. "Intentions" also features rapper Quavo, from the rap group Migos. The song has nearly 600 million streams on spotify, and reached #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 And that about wraps up my picks for the top bops of 2020 this year! 2020 has no doubt been incredibly difficult, however, music has never been better! I can't wait to see what's in store for music in 2021! |
