Happy New Year! With a whole year ahead of us we start to think about our new year’s resolutions and our goals for the next twelve months. It’s pretty easy to come up with the areas of our lives that we’re looking to improve, yet when it comes to achieving and keeping our resolutions, it can be a more difficult. Here are a few tips to maintain your resolutions this year:Stay OrganizedThis is a useful quality that can help in many different areas of our lives. As a college student, this is a piece of advice I’ve heard many times. Keeping a planner, either tangible or online, and creating a schedule can help a person visualize and remember all of the activities that make up our days. Whether scheduling time for a work out, planning meals for the week, or just reminding ourselves to brush our teeth two times each day, having your own system that works for you can go a long way Grab a PartnerThe more the merrier! Having someone to keep you accountable and to keep you company with your goals may increase your chances of staying motivated. Don’t OvercommitNobody’s perfect and there is always some areas of our lives that we want to improve. Rather than trying to fix all of these areas at once, focus on one or two at a time. When we create too many goals for ourselves, we become overwhelmed with all of our new responsibilities and are more likely to give up. Modify Your Goals if NeededSometimes we create goals for ourselves and find that we definitely set the bar too high. Rather than continuing to reach for a goal that is unreachable at the moment, modify your goal to something that works for you. Maybe going on a run every morning sounded like a good idea in the beginning, but it’s not working out as well as you thought it would. Change your goal to something that works better for you yet still helps with your objectives. On behalf of Weideman Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics, we wish you and your families a happy new year and look forward to seeing you soon! |
