How to Stay Healthy this Winter‘Tis the season for sore throats and stuffy noses. But luckily there are ways to prevent sickness this winter! Here are a few tips from our very own Dr. Jeff on staying healthy during cold season: Wash Your HandsIf you don’t wash your hands, then maybe it’s time to start. If you do wash your hands, wash them more! Proper hand washing includes using warm water and scrubbing your hands with soap for at least 20 seconds. Don’t Share FoodWe know that your friend’s lunch looks really yummy, but it’s best to politely decline and stick to your own delicious food. Drink Plenty of WaterHealth experts advise that we all drink 6-8 cups of water each day. Stay hydrated! Eat Fruits and VeggiesFruits and Vegetables are rich sources of vitamins that keep us healthy. That’s why they say “An apple a day keeps the doctor away!” Get Regular SleepThere are many benefits from consistently sleeping 7-9 hours a night. Allowing your body to rest can help prevent sickness. Take Vitamin CTaking vitamin C does not necessarily prevent sickness, but if you do happen to get sick, it decreases the length of symptoms. ExerciseBeing physically active can boost your immune system and may reduce your chances of getting a cold. With all that being said, make sure to stay healthy this winter! Thanks, Dr. Jeff! |
