Pediatric Sedation Citrus Heights, CA
We believe that education, building trust, and having fun will lead to a successful dental experience for children. However, we understand that some patients need a little extra magic to help them along the way. We provide in-office and hospital sedation options to calm the nerves and complete dental treatment in a safe and comfortable setting.
We offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas), in-office IV (intra-venous) sedation, and hospital sedation options. If your child is feeling anxious about their appointment, let them know that this is normal and work with our doctors to choose the right level of sedation to help your child relax.
Nitrous Oxide is a very predictable form of what is called “conscious sedation”. This is a mild option that most children who are anxious respond positively to. It is administered through the inhalation of nitrous oxide, and oxygen, through a nasal mask worn during the visit. Children are conscious, or fully awake, and they instantly feel the calming effect of the medication. It is a very common and safe sedation method that wears off quickly after the procedure.
General Anesthesia is a deeper level of sedation; this includes both IV and hospital sedation option. Our pediatric specialists are licensed and trained to work with the dental anesthesiologist towards a successful appointment. We partner with this anesthesiologist to provide IV sedation that is done in our office. We choose a comfortable, isolated area with plenty of space and well-prepared equipment for efficient care. We also partner with a highly experienced hospital dentist who has achieved privileges in surgery centers and hospitals in the Sacramento region.
Please note that all general anesthesia appointments will require an in-office consultation. At this appointment the doctor will determine whether IV or hospital sedation are recommended. For more information, please do not hesitate to call or text (916) 962-0577 and ask for our sedation care coordinator. They will be able to help answer questions about your proposed treatment, scheduling, and finances. |
