At-Home Whitening

Our at-home whitening system involves the use of mild to moderate whitening gel that is placed in a custom fit tray. We will take an impression of your teeth and custom make your trays right here in the office. The custom fit provides more effective results and the gel is stronger that over-the-counter products.

How Your Teeth Stain

There are two types of staining: extrinsic and intrinsic. Intrinsic stains occur when the inner structure of the tooth, called dentin, darkens or yellows over time. This type of stain is the result of medication, inheritance or trauma to the teeth. Stains that are inside the tooth do not respond to whitening or “bleaching” solutions.

The extrinsic or outer layer of teeth is made of porous enamel and picks up stains depending on what we eat. Extrinsic stains are usually the result of pigmented foods and beverages. Here is a partial list of items that may stain your teeth:
